i forgot to make a blog post for 3 months! sorry. um, since i made the last post my hard drive died and then came back to life by way of hard drive recovery and i finished the Tall as me? cassette. and also March Demo came out. and my 4-track died. so not overwhelmingly productive all things considered
in May i did a thing called SEDiMENT, where i recorded a Song Every Day in May Except Not Truthfully since it stretched over June too and sometimes i did two songs in one day. very fun challenge! i got to revive old musical scraps and learned a valuable lesson in the fact that not everything i make will be necessarily good. in fact, to be entirely candid i only really wanna immediately work on half of the like, 35 songs, which is still like over an LP of music in the 18 on my shortlist! which is crazy! and after i inject newer stuff + redux versions of stuff off Tall as me? it'll probably be like, an hour of material for the second rose album to work on. but i'm getting ahead of myself!
the rose album is Nearly Done. all I need to do is get tabs over to my friend Nate for electric bass stuff and then get that recorded, as well as some tabs to Juno for her U-bass - some of the songs call for a more upright-bass texture, and i am way too broke to pay a guy who actually owns an upright bass to do upright bass, and her U-bass sounds upright-y enough anyways. i also need to get live drum stuff over to Kole for two of the songs, both faster things that i feel like i might bastardize if i played them, but if worse comes to worst and he can't play them I can probably use the MIDI drums or get my friend Nightmare to do EZdrummer stuff (as was the initial plan) or even get good and just play them myself at Kole's kit.
it's shaping up to be 12 songs and around 34 minutes. i dunno how i'm gonna go about releasing it but i'll figure it out as it approaches finished-er. it's weird rapidly approaching 20 and finally nearly having The Album done, all and all i've sunk nearly four years of time into working on an album of my best work and now that it's nearly over i just kinda can't comprehend it. like, i wrote some of these songs when i was in 11th grade, and now i'm two years past graduation and they're finally months from being out there in superior forms to what are/were online.
i guess i just kinda get in my own head when it comes to this stuff. also it's nearly 1:30 i need to go to bed
