it is fairly late at night and i've been spinning a bunch of Robert Schneider solo demos while organizing my room. part of the goal of doing this is getting a lot of the Actual Junk that has scattered my home studio out of the way so i can fit more things here, but also because i've been trying to catalog all the cassettes i've done things on and i figured that would be a good way to find that, or at the very least find other things i've done that i wanna catalog.
unfortunately something i have rapidly discovered is that i have recorded far too much music. in front of me right now is like, 20-odd cassettes, a dozen of which are assorted boombox and early 4-track demos i did that i never transferred or did anything with... or labelled. so soon i'll get to find out what surely brilliant tracks remain on these weird old things. i do remember filling up a few and these are all C90s so i'm not sure how much i appreciate the idea of listening to 90 minutes of my weird rudimentary teenage music, let alone multiples of 90 minutes. may god have mercy on my soul.
thankfully past me started on this project already - in February i transferred two of the cassettes that i faintly remembered having things on them (an unlabelled loose PhoneMate C60 meant for voicemails and so horrible for music + one of the old Onn brand cassettes Walmart sold in 2021/2022) and they were... an endeavor to listen to, the first moreso than anything but the second in part to using nearly all 90 minutes of the tape, but i also discovered a few old things i saw potential in! Skydiver from the upcoming sequel to the Horn O'Plenty is like that.
if you're reading this, you're probably cool - here's a few tracks i cut together from the two tapes. most are from the second because the stuff on the first cassette truly is barely worth archiving but i thought dabbing in the shower (from an acoustic session i did with Catalyst, the shitposty punk band i had with my longtime friend Nate) was pretty funny.

anyways, aside from that i've been recording some stuff for the sequel to the Horn O'Plenty. i'll probably send something from either that or Horn in to this comp that benefits a charity running for people affected by the recent California wildfires - they opened submissions up to any genre instead of just skramz stuff and I figure they'll accept my stuff.
